About Chris
As a Co-Founder and Partner of Julien Unger & Associates PLLC (“JUA”), Chris’ focus is on his clients, partnering with them to ensure they’re compliant, thoughtful, and efficient with their accounting and tax reporting obligations and opportunities.
Chris specializes in business taxes for small to medium-sized closely held companies, estate and trust tax reporting, and tax planning and compliance for high net worth individuals. His industry specialties are real estate, construction and professional services. His diverse background spans from company controller overseeing comprehensive accounting and tax reporting to tax partner, adept at assimilating and applying tax law changes amidst evolving regulatory forms and changing political administrations.
Chris launched a part-time solo endeavor in 2021, and partnered with Nate Unger in 2023 to form JUA. Before that he spent 14 years in public accounting moving from staff up to partner at public accounting firms in Grand Rapids and the greater Seattle area.
Personal Life and Passions
Chris grew up near Grand Rapids, MI, before relocating to the Seattle area over a decade ago. He lives in Bothell with his wife Christa and their dog, Willow. A lifelong musician, Chris reminisces about his days playing guitar and singing in a band during his 20s, and aspires to be that good once more in his musical pursuits.
Fun Fact
Chris’s professional story began in the restaurant industry, a chapter that spanned until he completed his Master’s Degree in Accounting. This degree was a turning point, leading him away from his Midwestern roots to the dynamic business landscape of Seattle.
